Caring for your Coverlight blinds

Coverlight blockout blinds are built to last. A little routine care keeps the fabric, tracks and motor performing at their best for years — here's everything to know.

Everyday care

It is important to remember the following:

  • Always raise the blinds if windows and/or doors are open, as a strong breeze could catch and damage the blind.
  • Avoid exposure to wind or rain, as rain blown onto the blind might stain the fabrics and these spots could be difficult to remove. If the blind does get wet from rain do not raise it but leave it down to dry.

Operating a motorised Coverlight

To raise the blinds, always use the remote control provided or operate from the app. Do not attempt to raise or lower manually as you can damage the motor.

As these blinds use a 12v DC motor it will need recharging periodically. Remove the small cap on the LH side of the cover. Insert the charger end into the motor and plug the charger into a power outlet. Charging is complete when both lights are green.

Operating a manual Coverlight

Coverlight manual blinds use a smooth, cord-free Soft-Touch Spring mechanism — there is no chain, cord or motor to maintain, and nothing to charge. To lower the blind, gently draw the bottom rail down to where you want it, and it holds precisely in place. To raise it, give the bottom rail a gentle upward nudge (or use the pull stick) and guide it up — avoid letting it snap up on its own, as that shortens the life of the mechanism.

As with any blind, raise a manual blind before opening nearby windows or doors so a breeze cannot catch it.

Cleaning Coverlight blockout roller blinds

Choosing the best method of cleaning will depend on the fabric of your blinds. Uniguard® Fabric Protection system and semigloss finish makes cleaning easy and effective.

  • Dust with a soft brush or gently sponge clean with warm soapy water, leaving the blinds down to dry.
  • Spot clean any marks with a soft damp cloth, make sure the cloth is damp and not wet to guard against leaving water marks. You will also find an art gum eraser will also remove a wide range of service marks.
  • If the fabric in your blinds has a metallised backing, DO NOT spray window cleaner on or near the fabric.

Blind blown out of the track?

If the blind is blown out of the side tracks take care not to crease the blind skin as you carefully replace the blind in the track. If you're unsure or the blind won't sit correctly, contact your supplier before forcing it.
