General Product Information

What are Coverlight blinds made of?
The blind frame and headbox are made from durable aluminium. The fabric is a high-quality 100% polyester that is both PVC-free and lead-free.
Yes. All our blinds are proudly designed and manufactured in our factory in Melbourne, Victoria.

While not specifically designed as an acoustic barrier, the foam-backed fabric and sealed track system do provide noticeable sound-dampening properties, helping to reduce external noise.

For child safety and a clean, modern aesthetic, we offer two operating systems:
Soft-Touch Spring: A manually operated spring that holds its position at any point.
Motorised: A quiet 12V DC motor operated by remote control.
We do not offer any chain-operated systems.
Unfortunately, Coverlight cannot be used for skylights due to the angle of the window.

Product Specifications and Customisation

What are the dimensions of the headbox and tracks?
Headbox: We offer several profiles. Our standard square headbox is 64mm × 64mm (78mm deep with the front pelmet). We also have a traditional angled profile.
Side Tracks: The side tracks are 45mm wide and 25mm thick.
Spring System: The minimum width is 300mm (with a minimum drop of 800mm) or 400mm wide for drops under 800mm. Motorised System: The minimum size is 525mm wide by 400mm high. Please contact us for maximum size specifications.

Frame and Fabric: Yes! We encourage you to choose any combination of our standard frame and fabric colours to suit your interior design.
Mixing Frame Colours: This is not available as a standard option. Please contact our support team to discuss custom requirements.

Our side tracks come in three standard colours. Special powder-coating colours are available at an additional charge.

Measuring and Installation

Can I install the blind myself?
Yes, the Coverlight system is designed for DIY installation. Please refer to our detailed Assembly and Installation guides for step-by-step instructions.
Face Fit: Mounting the blind on the face of the window architrave generally provides the best possible light seal.
Recess Fit: Mounting the blind inside the window recess provides a sleeker look. For recess fits, we provide special expanding foam which, when installed correctly, is designed to seal light gaps around the frame.
Yes. Our measuring guide instructs you to provide the smallest width and height measurements. We will make the blind square to these dimensions. The expanding foam (for recess fit) will help seal gaps caused by an unsquare frame. However, extreme cases may affect the final appearance and seal.
Protrusions like window handles, winders, and latches must be accounted for during measurement. Please follow our measuring guide carefully. In many cases, selecting a “forward roll” headbox configuration can provide the necessary clearance.
Yes. However, please be aware that you may need to make modifications to your fly screen to allow for its removal after the blind is installed.
Bay windows and other unique configurations can often be accommodated. We recommend contacting our specialist team with photos and measurements for detailed advice before ordering.

Yes, this is a popular option. If you install the Coverlight blind within the window recess, you can then mount a traditional screen or privacy roller blind on the face of the architrave for a clean, dual-blind solution.

The idler pin holds the blind roll inside the headbox. To remove the roll:

  1. Retract the pin on the idler end of the blind roll.
  2. Carefully lift the idler end out first, then slide the entire roll out of the headbox.
  3. Set the roll and front cover safely aside.

Operation and Performance

Will my blind achieve total blackout?
A correctly measured and installed Coverlight blind is designed to create an exceptional room-darkening experience by blocking light from passing through the fabric and around the sides. While we aim for the highest level of light reduction, factors like installation, window squareness, and surface texture can influence the final result.
Yes, this can be an issue. A poor seal on your window or door can create air pressure that causes the blind fabric to blow out of the tracks or appear to “breathe” (suck in and out). It is not advisable to use a fully sealed blind in this situation until the leak is fixed.
Simply operate the blind slowly, and as it moves, use your fingers to gently guide the fabric back into the side tracks. If this happens regularly, it is a strong indication of a draft from a leaking window seal.
No. On very wide or long blinds, minor deflection of the roller tube can cause this slight “smiley face” effect. This is normal, does not affect the function of the blind, and is not considered a defect.
Air conditioning systems can create negative pressure, which may cause the fabric to suck inwards if your window has a poor seal. For evaporative cooling systems that require a window to be open, the blind must also be in the open position.

Motorised Blinds

How do I power on or "wake up" my motor?
Locate the PROG button on the motor and press and hold it for 1 second until the red light comes on. Some models may also have a physical ON/OFF switch located on the motor.
Use a 5VDC charger. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours. Red Light: The battery is currently recharging. Green Light: The battery is fully charged. Maintenance: To extend the life of the built-in lithium battery, ensure the motor is charged at least once every 6 months.
If the motor does not respond, first check if it is powered on. If the battery voltage drops below 5.5V, the motor will stop working entirely to protect the battery. Charge the motor for at least 6 hours to resume operation. If the motor light is flashing red, the battery is low (approx. 6.2V) and needs immediate charging.
If the remote is unresponsive, the battery may need replacing. Note: To open the remote casing, you must peel back the sticker on the back to reveal a hidden screw.
1. Press the PROG button on the motor for 1 second; the motor will jog once. 2. Press the UP button on the remote.
The first two positions you set will always be the absolute Upper and Lower limits. To set the Top Limit: Press the PROG button on the remote for 1 second until the motor jogs. Press UP first to specify the upper limit, move the blind to the desired position, and press PROG on the remote to save. To set the Bottom Limit: Press the PROG button on the remote for 1 second until it jogs. Press DOWN first to specify the lower limit, move the blind to the desired position, and press PROG on the remote again to save.
Yes. These motors use Zigbee technology and require a Zigbee Wireless Gateway (Hub). To enter pairing mode, press the PROG button on the motor 4 times quickly. On the 5th press, hold the button until the motor jogs. The green light will flash, and you can then add the “sub-device” through your ShawSmart or Tuya-based app.
Flip the remote over and peel back the bottom of the warning sticker. Use a PH1 screwdriver to loosen the hidden screw and remove the cover. Replace with a CR2450 battery.
The replacement battery is a CR2450.

Safety, Care and Materials

Is the fabric safe for nurseries and children's rooms?
Absolutely. The fabric is lead-free and PVC-free, and has achieved Greengard Gold and Oeko-Tex certification, ensuring it is free from harmful substances and safe for sensitive environments.
The fabric complies with the General Flammability Retardant requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) for building classes 2–9c, having been tested to AS1530.2 and AS1530.3.
The fabric has water-repellent properties and is treated with the Uniguard® system to resist mould and mildew, making it suitable for moist environments like bathrooms. However, the blind system is not waterproof (no components exceed an IP20 rating) and should not be placed in direct contact with water, such as inside a shower.
