Getting your measurements right is the most important step to a perfect fit. Take your time, double-check your numbers — this guide walks you through every step.
For recess and architrave fits, just send us the exact numbers we ask for — we make the small hardware deductions so your blind fits perfectly. No calculations on your end.
Five minutes of prep saves a re-measure. Grab these, and keep three golden rules in mind.

This is your first and most important decision — it changes how you measure. Here are the three ways your blind can sit.

The blind fits neatly inside the window frame (the recess) for a clean, built-in look.
The blind mounts on the wall or architrave outside the frame, blocking more light around the window.
Away from the glass. Clears handles and gives a flush finish — the most common choice.
Closer to the glass for a tighter fit and less light gap, but watch for obstructions.
An inside mount needs clear, unobstructed depth in the recess for the headbox and side tracks.

Window frames are rarely perfectly square. The smallest reading guarantees the blind fits, even if the window is tapered.

Measure straight down, from the top of the recess to the sill — a bent or angled tape reads long.
The goal is to cover the opening completely. You'll need at least 25mm of flat mounting surface all the way around.
Your architrave is the mounting surface, so it does the work — no extra maths.
With no trim to mount to, add the hardware's footprint around your window opening so the tracks sit on solid wall.
Tell us which side the motor and its charging port should sit on. Stand inside your room facing the window and pick the side that's easier to reach — or closer to a power point for charging.
Run through these three and you're set — they're the slip-ups that catch people out.

Note each measurement clearly — "Bedroom 1 width", "Bedroom 1 drop" — so nothing gets mixed up.
Soft or fabric tapes stretch and read inaccurately. A rigid metal tape gives the true number.
An angled or bent tape reads longer than the real span. Keep it level and taut, and measure the front of the recess.
